With Coturnix, you can see your first egg at around 7 weeks. This is very unlike a chicken that takes 18 weeks - or 4 months! before you see the first egg.
To get your quail to lay eggs that quickly, make sure they are at 70 degrees and are receiving increasing daylength from 14-16 hours.
