Coturnix Quail
Coturnix Quail are great backyard birds! With their small body size they can easily be set up in a pen on your deck, in your garage, or in the back yard. Females are fantastic egg layers that lay as many eggs as a productive chicken. Quail eggs are known for being healthy and packed with flavor. All you need is a serrated knife to open them. These are great birds to start for a beginner as they are easy to raise and don’t take up a lot of space. To get great egg production or even breed them birds yourself you can follow the below recommendation for day length.

Bobwhite Quail
Northern Bobwhite are a type of quail that is native to the US. Their population has been on the decline for 50 years. They are lively birds to watch, quick to run or fly, and very talkative! The Bobwhite name comes from their whistled bob-white call that is loud enough to be heard across any field or in your backyard. Bobwhite make great backyards birds when they are put in an aviary with available perching and places to hide. If you are interested in breeding it is recommended to have 2 females to every male. They are great egg producers.
